Getting in touch

If you are interested in psychotherapeutic treatment, a diagnostic assessment or an initial consultation, you can get in touch by phone or via the contact form. A medical referral is not required at my practice.

Preliminary phone call

In a brief preliminary phone call we first clarify your concern and discuss whether an in-person initial session would be appropriate. This is not yet about comprehensive therapy, but about a first orientation and the question of whether my services are generally suited to your situation.

Initial session (psychotherapeutic consultation)

The in-person initial session focuses on your current situation, your concerns and a first diagnostic assessment. At the same time, the meeting allows us to get to know each other. Psychotherapy is only effective when the working relationship is experienced as supportive and reliable.

Diagnostic initial phase

The first sessions usually serve the purpose of careful diagnostic clarification and a joint assessment of whether psychotherapy is appropriate. Depending on the presenting issue, structured interviews, psychological questionnaires or standardised test procedures may also be used.

Particularly in the case of more complex symptom patterns, long-standing difficulties or diagnostic questions such as ADHD in adulthood, a differentiated assessment is important to me. The aim is not to label symptoms prematurely, but to understand them within their biographical, structural and current context.

Further steps

After this initial phase we decide together whether and in what framework further treatment is advisable. The scope, frequency and duration of psychotherapy depend on the individual situation, the diagnostic assessment and the therapeutic goals.

Organisational notes

Psychotherapy at my practice can be covered by statutory health insurance, private health insurance, government aid (Beihilfe), Heilfürsorge, or on a self-pay basis. Depending on the treatment framework, additional organisational steps or documents may be required. I will inform you about these in our personal contact if they are relevant to your case.

Further information on fees and billing can be found on the Psychotherapy page and in the documents linked there.

Appointment policy

Agreed appointments are binding. If you are unable to attend an appointment, I ask that you cancel in good time, ideally at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or failure to attend may incur a cancellation fee.

In acute crises

My practice is not an emergency service. In acute crises, please contact the on-call medical service, the emergency services or the psychiatric emergency departments of regional hospitals. Emergency contacts can also be found on the website of the East German Chamber of Psychotherapists.
